Kiosk Latch Modification

The latest ATK style kiosk uses two latches with a special key. The lower latch is position 4mm (5/32") too low. Rather than relocating the hole, the manufacturer chose to reverse the operation of the latch so that the two latches now work in opposite directions.

Top latch 'lefty tighty', bottom latch 'righty tighty'. There has to be resistance to give a tight seal, but when you get confused over which way is undo, it is frustrating. You don't know if the won't unlock because it is tight, or because you are turning in the wrong direction.

A temporary solution is to grind 4mm off the lower latch and rotate the lock to match the top. The shorter length allows the door to close properly. If left long it will catch on the cabinet lip at the bottom. I'm about to grind another seven tabs. We will be buying another eighteen. I don't really want to modify them myself, but I will, to reduce field user frustration. Please correct the lower hole placement (raise it 4mm and match the rotation of the top latch)
