Ue of Detail Purchase Orders, but Dispatch orders do not seem to be honoring this setting.

Dealing with state entities and other customers, we frequently receive a different PO for different material - all for the same job and same sales order.   We do have Apex configured to use Detail Purchase Orders.  However it seems that, when creating a dispatch order, the dispatch order is pulling the Purchase Order from Slordnam and not the Slorder table.   Would be nice if the creation of the dispatch order would honor this setting and pull the purchase order from the sales order detail and not the header.     Likewise, if a purchase order is changed on a sales order detail - it should prompt to change existing dispatch orders.  Just as it does when the PO is changed on Slordnam.

Our home grown system did this - before we switched to Apex.   Knowing we could have different PO's at the detail level.   If the header PO was changed, it would also go through and update ALL of the products on the same sales order, where the product PO matched the original header PO.  Any products on the sales order that were different, were left as they were.

I agree as well.  If the PO header is changed, it will change corresponding dispatch orders.  The same should hold true at the detail level.   This way, the behavior of the purchase order value would be consistent.

Good morning Kristy.  I do indeed see different behavior.   Our production system is Apex 6 October 2017.   We are working on upgrading to December 2019 which we have in our DEV system now.   I ran the same test on both, and received the same results.   Dispatch order assumed the Purchase Order from the header.   Maybe there is another configuration setting that may not be correctly set.   I have attached a WORD document with my test on both versions of Apex 6 that we have installed.

    Rich,

My document shows how it works on creation of a Dispatch Order. But as you stated, when you update a detail record it won't update the Dispatch Order. I see that if I update the PO at the header it will update the Dispatch Order but not at the detail level. That is an area we could improve the experience to match the functionality.

Rich, I tested this behavior and it is working as expected.

Expectation when using an order that has detail POs on a Dispatch Order:

    • If I choose a product with a detail PO, the PO should be from the order detail.

    • If I choose a product without a detail PO, the PO should be from the order header.

I did screenshots of my testing and have attached them. This way we can compare my results and your results. Do you see any differences?
