Data Replication with Application Logic

I would love to see Data Replication move closer to a web API rather than a database function. The main reason is with Data Replication we are not able to utilize Application logic.

Our remote sites simply act as a ticketing computer. No orders/dispatches/system values are maintained separate from the central server. This means we have to ensure all configuration tables are replicating correctly (tax, user type fields, screen mods, etc.) to the remote sites. Then we have to ensure all dispatch/order/daily counts/tickets replicate correctly back to the office.

Having a simpler replication where the configuration tables by default all replicate would allow for a faster site setup. Then also selecting "replicate tickets" would allow for all the ticket information that is scattered all over the sales orders/dispatches/load lists to update correctly.

My main point, is Data Replication is too technical and requires a steep learning curve for training on troubleshooting and new set up. Having a "sync" service would be much easier and could allow for a click of a button to manually bring the remote site up to the current state as the central server.

I understand DR was created with the understanding that Internet is very unreliable, but in the last 20 years internet speeds have drastically improved.

Auditing should be built into it as well so we don't have to look on the remote site for Audit records.

Business Impact: This results in incorrect Today's totals, load lists with incorrect assignments, and minimal IT resources who know how DR actually works and how to troubleshoot.
