Ability to specify exact quantity to load - instead of GVW - Tare Calculation

We are using Scale Watcher at one of our sites. RFID used for checking in and ticketing out.

Currently, all trucks to be loaded show up on the loader tablet with the calculated quantity to be loaded. GVW minus Tare. There are times where the customer only wants a partial load - say 10 tons instead of 23. We need a way to specify an over-ride value so that the loader can see this is a short load - and load just that amount.

After reviewing with support, instructions for us to add the Target User Tons field to the ticket screen and have the weighmaster enter the exact tonnage to load. Then, when the truck checks in, the value entered by the weighmaster would be what shows up on the loader tablet.

With Dispatch and Scale Watcher, this should all be automatic without weighmaster intervention. Ideally, we would have a place on the dispatch order to specify a specific amount to load. When the truck checks in against the dispatch, if an over-ride was specified there - that is what would show up on the loader tablet - and the amount actually put on the truck. If no value provided on the dispatch order - then the default calculation would be used,

Chris, thanks for the suggestion. We will change our testing to use "User Target Qty". We still have to deal with situations where the driver wants a light load because he will stop to buy fuel before delivery or other similar reasons. Not sure how frequently this happens as that communication is currently between the driver and loader operator. Our goal is to remove as much weighmaster intervention as is feasible.

Mark, for your scenario, I would set 'Repeat User Targets' in System Configuration to Yes, and add the 'User Target Qty' to the ticket screen instead of Target Gross. Also I believe the Dispatch Order's fields I described may be helpful for your multi-load scenario.

We have a similar concern which can't be resolved with the use of the Deliver tab on a Dispatch Order. Most of our loads aren't on a Dispatch. We are looking at adding the Target Gross field to the Scale Ticket template. That is fine for the first load of the day, but isn't a solution for second and subsequent loads with same Product, same Order, and same Customer. We want to be able to use our Quick Check process which doesn't require communications between the Scale House and a driver in these situations.

Rich, I believe you have customized your screen and likely do not show these on yours, but our default I believe has what you are requesting on the Deliver tab (you can use Options if logged into Apex as an Admin to turn off User Designed Screens to see it). Here's a link to the calculations used: https://users.commandalkon.com/Releases/Apex/Apex%20Current%20Help/Calculating_Default_Target_Weights.htm
