We have started combining multiple Apex databases into one database for some of our different subsidiaries. It makes it easier for the back-office users to manage the master data and allows our sales staff to send out one quote with Agg and Asphalt included. We would like for the Freight by Ticket report to include a Location Group filter, similar to how the Ticket Edit and Ticket exception reports have it. This would allow us to still be able to process tickets separately using location groups while still having the advantages of a merged database.
Chris,
Yes, we did end up taking the canned report and modifying it so it can be run standalone without the screen and adding the Location Group parameter as an option.
It would be cleaner on the screen, but I know you are familiar with Crystal Reports so I figured I'd let you know how you could handle this today. If you add a parameter to that report for the location group, it will ask for that parameter when you run the report.
It's important to note that many canned reports will change the record selection formula in the report when it's ran. So, for something like this, you would instead suppress sections if they did not match the location group entered.
For anyone else reading this, and it sounds like a foreign language, we do offer training on Crystal Reports with Apex (used to customize Apex reports, or add new ones). We usually do this at conferences, etc., but we could also setup a time one on one to train specific to your needs.
