Add custom Free Form fields to orders screen

With the mandate of E-ticketing in some of our operating areas, the DOT is requesting a lot of different information to be put on tickets & orders. We are all out of free form fields on the orders screen and the DOT is still requesting for more information to be entered in. I inquired with support and they said we cannot put in custom fields into the order screen via screen designer, we can only use what is available to us. Because the DOT is testing this for us and is going to make the decision to implement it nation-wide, I would like to request the ability to add custom free form fields in orders screen for the DOT requirements. Attached is a spec sheet of the DOT's requirements. Since this will eventually be a nation-wide change, this will end up effecting most command alkon users for DOT jobs. For our E-ticketing we are using an apex to fleetwatcher integration.


Edit: Just to clarify, we have looked into UDF, but the fields have to be free-form and not selectable as the DOT numbers/information changes with each job, as we don't want IT to have to enter in each number all the time.

    Will, I think you are talking about https://users.commandalkon.com/Releases/Apex/Apex%20Current%20Help/User_Defined_Fields.htm. Basically, you add fields to the database and turn it on in system configuration. Then you can show them using screen designer. They will also copy down to the ticket if you have the appropriate ticket tables modified.
