Provide an option to carry the Quote Expiration date over to the Order Expiration Date

Sales will quote customers pricing for a specific period of time - using the expiration date as when the quoted prices would expire.  However, when we use the wizard to create an order from a quote, the system config setting for order expiration date kicks in.    Would be nice to have a setting under orders that would all us to say, when an order is created from a quote, use the quote expiration date as the order expiration date.

    Richard,

Would you want a System Configuration setting that would effectively force all Orders to use the Quote Expiration Date for the Order's Order Expiration Date

    OR

Would you want a check box on the Wizard to to change based upon your needs

    OR

Would you want both - Where the System Configuration setting is the default value for you company and the user could change during the Wizard process (if it were necessary).

    Let us know.

    Thanks!

Seasonal quotes would be a great example. We literally create hundreds of these each year across the enterprise.
Seasonal quotes could be for the entire calendar year, for the summer months, etc.
These seasonal quotes could contain multiple plants and products.

Our current quote expire days is 30 and orders are 365.

Say we enter a seasonal quote for a customer that is good from 01/01/2017 thru 12/31/2017.
These are the effective and expiration dates on the quote.

Customer calls in to place an order on 03/01/2017.
Sales pulls up quote and creates the order.
The quoted prices are good ONLY THRU 12/31/2017, but Apex will default the order expiration date to 03/01/2018.
Unless someone MANUALLY updates the expiration date on the order – we could ship an additional 2 months at the 2017 price.

So it would not matter when in 2017 the customer calls to place an order against his quote, the order expiration date will always default to 1 year from the date the order was placed.
So, we could be shipping on orders long after the quoted prices truly were to expire.
That is, unless sales manually changes the expiration date on all the orders being created from seasonal quotes.

Would be nice to have a configuration setting that would use the quote expiration date as the order expiration date.
This could save a lot of issues when sales forgets to change the order expire date and plants continue selling material at the incorrect price.

    Richard,

Question - There is a setting in Systems Configuration called 'Opens Target Sales Program when the Wizard is completed'.

If that setting is set to 'Yes', the Sales Order program will open up after completing the Wizard process and navigate to the newly created order.  At that time, someone could change the Order Expire Date to match the Quote Expire Date.  Would this meet your needs or do you need a 'check box' on the Wizard form?

Question - What percentage of Orders do you have to change the Order Expire Date to match the Quote Expire Date?

    Let us know.

    Thanks!
