Sorry, this was marked as shipped in error. We are still working on a solution built on the Auto Updater application developed by COMMANDbatch. Currently we are able to distribute ISO files to PC'x/Servers where the Auto Updater client is installed. We are working on a silent installer option for the patch releases in Apex 7 that can auto install if you configure it to do so. Since patch releases do not contain SQL BD changes the upgrade will only install files. To utilize Auto Updater to deliver ISO files to your systems for Apex 7 go to https://update.commandalkon.com to download and install the client. Auto Updater will automatically update itself as new features are added.
We will start alpha-testing this software very soon. We've had it running and remote updating our internal Apex software and it is looking good. We will reach out to the alpha tester within the next 2 weeks and see how it performs. Assuming success, we will provide and support it in general availability.
I love this idea, and would be glad to help test it. I've got 2 quarries where this would be perfect, as they're extremely remote from me, and using slow T1 links back to the office.
We are making significant progress with unattended, remote upgrades of Apex. We are to the point of making test runs. We are not quite ready for version 6 *yet*.
The attached document describes the changes for the installation to run in “silent mode” for mass upgrades. For those of you interested the attached document gives a good description of how your plants sites may need to be configured or what you may need to know about the Apex install for this process to work. It may be something worth considering.
We have more testing to complete but we are getting even closer!
We're getting close(r). This kind of distribution requires us to add another way we deliver patches and/or upgrades to you. The patches and/or upgrades run in a "silent mode" and do not require clicks/confirmations from the user. Also, we are building out a "lean" Apex install to really reduce the size of the patches/upgrades (no need to send GB's over your network). The computer would deliver the patches to all necessary computers in the plant and it would report back its success/failure and allow retries if necessary.
<THESE ARE OPTIONAL FEATURES> What we are running also supports regular patching from Microsoft and other 3rd party vendors (Adobe/Java/etc anyone?). Also, it allows remote'ing into the machine if necessary. It allows you to schedule the patches (3 A.M.,etc). It also can email/txt you its progress.
We are working hard on this in order to reduce the time to apply patches/upgrades and to greatly reduce the costs to you. We are excited about its progress.
We've been looking at various options and approaches for this. We've been testing a possible solution. We're getting close to being able to pilot a solution to help everyone out.
Would anybody be willing to test it out with us and pilot a solution? It won't be immediately but I would like to see if there is interest and to get the conversation started.
I like this idea a lot, it would be sweet if this Control Center could also push out config changes, basically all the configs that aren't in a database and can't be pushed out via data rep.

I saw this was changed to shipped. What was the final result?
Will this ever be implemented?
This is ready for an alpha/pilot testing. If anyone wants to volunteer feel free to email me or leave a comment.

Hi All. I'll provide another update next Friday after I find the status of this work and hopefully provide some better ETAs. Thanks!

Quick update: we are still developing and testing this system. I'll continue to provide updates.
I like this a lot. Especially since most of my plants are a day's ride past the middle of nowhere.

Great Chris!

Just a little bit longer...... :)
Vince. This would be a HUGE improvement for companies that have a widely distributed installation. We would be happy to test and pilot this!! Awesome!

Please let us know. Thanks!
Great! Thank you for reading it guys.
I'll look into the options for config changes.
Yes - we are evaluating the patching process as well.

This would be a great tool, especially for patching.
