Display only active orders

When using the orders form, after entering the customer code, pressing tab causes an old/inactive order to be displayed/opened.  If there are current/active orders available for the customer to display, only active orders should be displayed.

    Hi Theresa,

Regarding the order screen showing old or inactive orders, have you tried using the Navigator as suggested in a previous comment? We wanted to find out if that met your needs or not.  Thanks for your input!

    Vince/Gary,

The behavior of the 'Header/Filter' programs is as follows: The end-user enters the ID (in this case, CustomerID).  The end-user tabs of that field and the program returns all records (Orders) associated with that ID (CustomerID).  The Alt-F3 and Ctrl-F3 drop-down that you are speaking about would be at the Order fields level.  That is too late in the process and does not meet Theresa's needs.

There are (2) things that are being requested (I think :-)).

Item #1 - When the end-user enters the 'CustomerID', the program should navigate to the first 'Active' Order.  The end-user can then navigate to their desired Order from there.

Item #2 - When an 'Inactive' or 'Void' Order is displayed.  Make the the 'Tabbed Information' Read-Only by Default.  Then have a menu option to 'Edit' the information if necessary.

Since both, of these options are program modifications - there is another option to try (for Item #1) to see if that will work and that is use the 'Navigator' grid.  The 'Navigator' grid is what it is - A form that can be persistent (always visible) that list all the customer/orders.  The end-user can filter out the customer/orders that that don't want (i.e. Inactive/Void status).  The end-user only needs to double-click on the grid's row to have the 'Order' program navigate to the desired information.

Theresa - Try that and see if that meets your needs and let us know.

    Thanks!

Theresa, there is an admin tool within Apex called Search Setup that would be used to define the data sorting in the dropdown fields. This tool is SQL driven so you can run the query to be "active" only, and also you can remove the Alt+F3 second step if you don't want inactive information to show. You might check with Jason, he may know how to set this up, if he doesn't let me know and we'll get someone to assist.

F3 will work.  So will using the drop down in the field.  However, I still believe that inactive orders should not be the first thing displayed after a customer is selected!

This is why it is a problem (& this has caused headaches for us on several occasions):  a salesperson or I choose a customer who we know only has ONE order set up (this year).   We enter the customer code, and an order is displayed in the form (an inactive order).  We start editing it thinking we are on the only order the customer has (adding products, changing quantities, changing prices).  Save & close.  Now the customer comes in for product and the active order was not editied.  The tickets are incorrect, the invoices are incorrect.  Everyone is scratching their heads.  Oh wait!!  The order changes we made 2 weeks ago were to the WRONG ORDER.

Inactive orders should not be visible.  Inactive orders should not be editable.  If I need to see inactive orders I can use Ctrl-F3.

HI Theresa. As a quick work-around you can push F3 to only display those active. Does that help you?
