We recently received a request from the business concerning a potential enhancement and would like to inquire with you concerning our options. If a sales order has a freight table assigned, then we would like for Apex to notify users whenever they select the sales order, via the orders, dispatch orders and/or destination screens. This can be set in the system config, depending on the divisions preference to use this functionality.
This would be helpful for users who are creating dispatches and are unaware that a freight table exist for the sales order.
We are using freight tables for carrier-specific rates and have found that these are cached on the ticketing screen. If it is needed ASAP at the scale house, the user must close and reopen the ticketing screen. This alert may be helpful on the ticketing screen, or figure out a way to change the refresh capability on the freight table functionality. I am also interested in the notification for dispatch.
Normal configuration for Freight charge/pay is to use Freight price lists at both the Location and Sales Order levels.
However Boral uses the Freight tables configured with Sales Order number and Carrier only when there are Carrier Specific negotiated rates.
Kristy,
Our company was considering using freight price lists at one point for other reasons, but ultimately decided not to pursue it.
I used Freight tables in Apex – heavily – we very much would like some sort of notification that lets users and BO know that there are freight tables in use or existing
Thank you!

Ceasear,
I heard your company was starting to use Freight Price Lists. I was wondering if Freight Price Lists would get you what you need as far as setting up freight rates. Then we could ask the question again about a notification regarding Freight Prices Lists instead of Freight Tables.
Chris, Do you use Freight Tables in Apex?
Problem we experience is the lack of visibility that a Freight Table is assigned to the Sales Order. For example in the sales order screen there is no indication that the freight table is used for freight charge/pay.
This could be a bit complicated given the use of Carrier based freight table definitions.
Kristy, I haven't been pressed by the business on this since I added this as an idea. I would like to talk to them to determine if this is still a need. We could create an MDI that shows orders and Freight Tables assigned in order to address their concern. This solution is different from what they're asking, but I think it could work. I'll get back with the people who requested and can give you an update. Thanks!
I've reached out to a couple of people. One person hasn't been using the freight tables and I'm still waiting to hear back from the other person. I know that's not much help, but hopefully I can get some meaningful feedback to provide for you soon.
Ceasear,
Any updates to the impact for the users? Have they had time to start using freight tables and be able to know the impact? Let me know. Thanks!
I've reached out to the business with these questions and they are unable to quantify this at the time, given that they are just starting to use freight tables. Once we get an idea in terms of impact. I'll respond and will let you know. Thanks for these questions. This has given the business something to think about.
Ceasear,
Can you help us to quantify this idea? What is the impact to the users for this idea? For example, how many wrong freight amounts are used because users don't have a notification regarding freight table being assigned. Then does this cause Credit and Rebills? Or another way to look at it, can you quantify the impact to the process that would be received with this idea being implemented?
